Fox News anchor Bret Baier disclosed that the reason a second debate between the candidates hasn’t been arranged by the network is due to former President Trump, not Vice President Kamala Harris.

In a recent conversation with conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt, Baier indicated that Harris would likely agree to a debate on Fox if Trump were willing to participate. He pointed out that Trump seems reluctant, possibly because a Fox debate would attract a massive audience.

Baier stated, “I actually believe — this is my opinion — that the Harris campaign would participate in a Fox debate if the former president has decided there shouldn’t be another debate.”

He stressed that Trump’s position is the main hurdle, despite his earlier interest in a Fox-hosted debate. In contrast, Harris has accepted a debate invitation from CNN, demonstrating her readiness to engage, unlike Trump, who remains undecided as early voting begins in some states.

Baier added, “I always thought that the allure of 70 million viewers would be irresistible for the former president, and that he would eventually agree to a Fox debate, knowing him.”

Trump had previously shown interest in a debate with Vice President Harris on Fox News, a leading cable channel with hosts who often support him. Recently, Trump expressed a preference for one of Fox’s prime-time opinion hosts to moderate the debate, rather than established anchors like Bret Baier or Martha MacCallum.

However, many political analysts believe Harris is unlikely to agree to a Fox debate, given the network’s frequent criticism of her and President Biden’s policies.
