CNN has released an audio recording featuring a Michigan Republican official, Meshawn Maddock, boasting at a recent event about her role as a fake elector. She claimed that the Trump campaign orchestrated the scheme to challenge Biden’s electoral victory.
At a public event organized by the conservative group Stand Up Michigan, Maddock, co-chair of the Michigan Republican Party, stated, “We fought to seat the electors. The Trump campaign asked us to do that,” according to the recording.
Maddock was among the 16 fake electors for Trump who signed a fraudulent certificate sent to the National Archives.

CNN highlighted that this scheme was crucial to Trump’s strategy to persuade then-Vice President Mike Pence to discard Biden’s electors in favor of GOP electors on January 6, when Congress counted the electoral votes.
